APG 6:30PM Social – New & Improved!
6:30 + 3 Photo Creative Challenge + Ask Me = SOCIAL TIME!
Learn how to use simple lighting techniques to create a dramatic portrait and continue the creative process in post-production.
At the May APG meeting, Joyce Dumas will discuss how she creates dramatic portraits and still life through lighting, styling, and post-production techniques. Joyce will demonstrate how to use one source of light, as well as the resultant shadows, to add drama to a portrait or still life. She will also take us through the post-production steps she uses to continue her artistic vision for the piece.

Joyce Dumas,
who lives the North Georgia mountains, has a career background in both
photography and writing and finds she is happiest when she can combine
the two crafts. “I find myself thinking about how I’m going to write
about a photography experience while I’m in the field shooting. When I
sit at the computer, writing about the shoot leads me to thinking about
how I can do things differently next time. It’s a symbiotic relationship
that hopefully improves the techniques of both.” Joyce has shown her
work in regional galleries as well as at juried fine art shows
throughout the Southeast. She co-founded the Blue Ridge Mountain
Photographers guild, chaired the BRMP National Photography Exhibit, and
served on the board of the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association.
