th Juried Exhibition Guidelines
ELIGIBILITY: Open to Athens area artists working in all visual media.
MEDIA & SIZE: Actual original works in all visual media (no kits, molds, etc.) may be submitted.
Works exhibited previously at Lyndon House are not eligible. Wall pieces should not exceed 11’ in any
direction, including the frame. To fit in the elevator, sculpture should be no more than 4’x8’x8’ and
should not exceed 100 lbs. per sq. ft. in weight. Works which do not meet the requirements for
preparation or require special installation will not be judged.
ENTRY FEE: A non-refundable fee of $20.00 will be charged for submission of 1-3 works. (not $20 per
piece)
JUROR: Karen Shaw, Chief Curator of the Islip Art Museum and The Carriage House space in Long
Island, NY
AWARDS: There will be cash merit awards as selected by the Juror.
SALES & REPRODUCTION: A 30% commission will be charged on all sales. The sponsors reserve the
right to reproduce works for promotional materials.
LIABILITY: All possible care will be taken in handling works. Works submitted to the 34
thJuried
Exhibition will be insured in the Lyndon House Arts Center from January 29-February 24, 2009.
Works accepted in the exhibition will be insured from January 29-May 12, 2009. Because of insurance
restrictions work cannot be accepted prior to delivery dates.
DELIVERY & PICK-UP: The dates and times listed in the Calendar of Events for delivery and pick-up are firm!
Entry forms will be available to be filled out at delivery times.
THE RULES
PREPARATION OF WORKS SUBMITTED
ANY WORK NOT MEETING THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS WILL NOT BE JUDGED
1. All work must be finished, dry (no wet paint, no wet glue) and ready for installation. Nails, screws, staples, etc.
should not protrude from the back, sides or bottom of the work.
2. Works on paper must be framed and under glass or plexi-glass. No clip type frames or plastic frames.
3. Paintings must be framed, stripped or the edges finished in some way. Painted or clean edges are fine.
4. Wall pieces must have screw eyes and wire attached. Saw tooth hangers are acceptable only on pieces no
larger than 14” in either direction. Slant board hangers or D-rings are acceptable only on works larger than
4’ in width.
5. Fabric pieces should have a casing sewn in the top and a dowel or rod cut to size for hanging.
6. Photographs mounted on sentra are acceptable provided that they are coated with a UV laminate and have
a wood frame adhered to the back and screw eyes and wire attached or slant board hangars.
7. Free standing or free hanging works must be ready to install. Consult the art prep staff for specifics or with

ACCEPTED WORKS MUST REMAIN IN THE GALLERY DURING THE COURSE OF THE EXHIBITION AND MAY
NOT BE REMOVED FOR ANY REASON, NO EXCEPTIONS.
SUBMISSION OF AN ENTRY TO THIS EXHIBITION CONSTITUTES AGREEMENT ON THE PART OF THE
ENTRANT TO THE CALENDAR OF EVENTS AND AGREEMENT TO THE CONDITIONS AND OPERATIONS
STATEMENT CONTAINED IN THESE GUIDELINES.
Lyndon House Arts Center Operations Statement
The Lyndon House Arts Center is operated by the Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services as a center of excellence for the
benefit and cultural enrichment of youth and adults. Gallery exhibitions, festivals, workshops, art meetings, special events and art
classes aim to provide area citizens with a positive experience in the visual arts, encouraging them to appreciate the arts and to develop
their creative talents.
The Lyndon House Arts Center also places importance on youth education and outreach arts activities which reflect the values of
integrity, quality, diversity and creativity held by our community. These values serve as a guide for the selection and exhibition of
artwork for the galleries. As a local government program the Lyndon House Arts Center reserves the right to present in a controlled
access area, or to deny exhibition of any material which may not be appropriate for all audiences.
Children visiting the galleries must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the safety of the artwork and for art work content.
Lyndon House Arts Center is a facility of Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department and is supported in part by the Georgia
Council for the Arts (GCA) through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. GCA is a partner agency of the National
Endowment for the Arts.
