August News

NEW THIS MONTH: Beginners or veterans, come one, come all! Do you have a photography question, maybe one you’re too shy to ask in front of the group? Or you’re stuck with a question and have no idea who might know the right answer? At APG, we’re trying something new at the August meeting: Our own, dedicated “Ask Me!” person will be on duty during the social half-hour, 6:30 – 7:00 PM. If he or she doesn’t know the answer, they’ll find somebody who does. Just look for the person wearing the “Ask Me!” hat.

Upcoming Contests and Notifications

  • APG Hummingbird Trail Walk at the State Botanical Gardens. The master of the hummingbirds at the Botanical Gardens will be doing a photo walk for APG members. Aug. 11. 8:30–10:30 a.m.. If you are not a member for 2018, you need to print the member form, sign the middle part and bring it with you.

Image Critique and Q&A

In lieu of a speaker for August we are going to pool together our wisdom, our opinions, and yes, maybe our ignorance.

Do you have an image that seems slightly off, but can’t quit put your finger on it? Let us look at it. Someone in the group is sure to have some ideas on how to improve it. You can show your image anonymously or talk about what bothers you about it. We’ll follow strict rules about making suggestions that are helpful and encouraging. We are going to try and do suggested edits live so bring images that are 2400 pixels or longer on the long side.

Do you have questions about photography gear, techniques, or methods? Bring those, too. Our group has a wealth of experience from vastly different backgrounds. Surely someone will have an answer or be able to point you in the right direction.

The last time we did this it was a large success so come on out and join in the discussions.

Please have a folder for your critique image and a separate folder for challenge images.
